Blanton Live: Conversations for Now

Selected date

Sunday October 29

Selected time

2:00 PM  –  4:00 PM

Renowned climate writer Jeff Goodell (New York Times bestselling author, The Heat Will Kill You First) is joined by Katharine Hayhoe (Chief Scientist for the Nature Conservancy) and Julian Brave NoiseCat (TIME100 Next Emerging Leader) for an eye-opening discussion around the Blanton’s exhibition If the Sky Were Orange: Art in the Time of Climate Change.

Together the speakers will offer important insights into the challenges and urgency of communicating about climate change—and the role art has to play. Followed by an audience Q&A and book signing.

Part of the Blanton’s new speaker series Blanton Live: Conversations for Now, which brings artists and creative thinkers together to discuss the most compelling ideas and issues of the day.

An American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter will be located near the stage for patrons who are deaf or hard of hearing.

MUSEUM ADMISSION: Blanton Live tickets include admission to the museum (hours: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and attendees are invited to view the exhibition If the Sky Were Orange before or after the program.

BOOK SIGNING: The Heat Will Kill You First: Life and Death on a Scorched Planet by Jeff Goodell and Saving Us: A Climate Scientist’s Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World by Katharine Hayhoe will be available for purchase in the Museum Store, and the authors will sign their books immediately after the program.
