Thursday September 9

5:00 PM  –  6:00 PM

Did you know the average museum visitor spends only 15 to 30 seconds looking at a work of art? But if you choose to slow down — to find an artwork that speaks to you and observe it for minutes rather than seconds — you are more likely to connect with the art, the person with whom you are touring the galleries, and maybe even yourself. You might emerge from the museum feeling refreshed and inspired.

Join Siobhán McCusker, museum educator for the university audience, on a virtual Slow Looking art experience. Together, we will explore artworks from the Blanton's Collection that are seldom on view, by slowing down and using playful observation strategies. The more we look, the more we see. Slow Looking with a Twist will include Siphonophora and Baranek.

No experience is necessary: please bring your curiosity, a few sheets of paper, and something to draw with. This is part one of a three-part series, feel free to join for one, two, or all three.
